From Trauma to Triumph: Woodbury Peer Recovery Specialist Launches New Book to Motivate and Empower Those Struggling with Alcohol Addiction
WOODBURY, MN – As Minnesota grapples with a 223% increase in alcohol-related deaths over the last two decades, local author and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Brian S. Nicholson is offering a new roadmap for those feeling stuck. His upcoming book, Let’s Get After It! Decide, Commit, Get Sober, Thrive, set for release on June 30, 2026, provides a raw, first-hand account of overcoming trauma and PTSD to find a life of purpose.
In 2023 alone, alcohol contributed to over 26,000 hospitalizations in Minnesota. Nicholson’s book addresses these "quiet" statistics by bridging the gap between clinical data and lived experience. A 25-year resident of Woodbury, Nicholson shares his personal journey of achieving sobriety independently—without a traditional treatment entry—to provide hope for the nearly 819,000 Minnesota adults currently living with substance use and mental health conditions.
"Recovery isn't just about stopping a behavior; it's about the aggressive pursuit of a better life," says Nicholson. "I’ve lived this, and I’ve seen it destroy lives. This book is for anyone who feels trapped by fear and shame and is looking for a way to finally thrive."
Let’s Get After It! is available now for pre-order and will launch on June 30, 2026, at major retailers including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
