Meet Brian

BRIAN S. NICHOLSON is the author of Let’s Get After It! Successfully retired at 56 and over 5 years in successful long-term recovery. He is supported by his wonderful family and friends while thriving in his best life in Woodbury, Minnesota. You might find him on one of the many lakes boating, out hiking, or cheering on his beloved Iowa Hawkeye’s, Chicago Bears and Cubs! In 2026, he became a Minnesota state–certified Peer Recovery Specialist. He aspires to use his training and life experience to assist those who are looking for a way out from self-destruction, self-medicating, and numbing their mental health issues and addictions. He wants to help them to live out their best lives. He is willing to speak to both large and small audiences and his goal is to work privately with individuals, including executives and others who prefer discretion.

Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

From childhood trauma, self-diagnosing, and self-medicating with alcohol to his recovery and beyond, Brian Nicholson’s story is an inspirational journey of survival, addiction, self-awareness, and perseverance. Millions of people struggle with addiction every day. The battle has its outward physical and financial effects, yet many battle their internal demons out of sight from their family and friends. On March 31, 2021, Brian quit drinking cold turkey. While that is a major accomplishment by itself, in hindsight, he realized that was the easy part. The significant challenge that arose was the realization that he had to deal with his unknown mental health issues to truly heal what had been wounded and to live the life he always knew was possible. Upon this realization, Brian began his journey. Brian tells you his story and shows you what is possible, but first you must choose whether you are ready to heal. If you aren’t willing to face the reasons behind your addiction, you won’t be able to truly address the underlying causes, and your chances that you return to using will go up dramatically. Let’s Get After It! provides practical tips, insights, and valuable lessons while maintaining that there is more than one path to recovery. You will learn firsthand the importance of therapy, journaling, and 30-day challenges while not ruling out the importance of treatment. The goal here is to help get you out of your “Cycle of Suck” and gain monumental long-term strength

After working through his own recovery and retiring he found the courage to write his very personal experiences as a journal but found the courage to turn his words into a manuscript with the singular goal to help one person. Now that the book is finished and real he is taking his show on the road to do a Book Tour and Speaking Engagements meeting with those who are in need to start their recovery, life and wellness journey.
